Fat Dissolving (Aqualyx)

 

Fat dissolve treatments are intended for the use on small pockets of fat and not to be used as a solution for large surface area body contouring.

The term lipolysis describes the hydrolysis, or degradation, of lipids into their constituent fatty acid and glycerol building blocks. Fat dissolve lipolysis results in the reduction of fat cell volume while still maintaining cell viability.

Fat dissolve treatments are not without their side effects. These may include:

  • Injection site erythema
  • Tenderness
  • Numbness
  • Oedema/Swelling
  • Bruising
  • Burning or stinging sensation

These effects will be temporary and will disappear in a matter of minutes to days.

 

SIDE EFFECTS OF MESOTHERAPY

Typically, two treatments are required for each area being treated: patients report good tolerance of the treatment. The treatment will be repeated between two and eight times depending on the number of small pockets of fat tissue to be reduced. The treatment is repeated every three to four weeks. After each treatment patients can expect some swelling, redness and skin irritation and tenderness in the area treated. Which will subside after four to six days.

What will Aqualyx treatment feel like?

The treatment area will be cleaned and topical anaesthetic may be applied for comfort. The solution will be injected using a fine needle. The area will feel warm and you may experience a slight burning or stinging sensation. We add lidocaine to Aqualyx for local anaesthetic so is a comfortable procedure to have.

 

How long will my results last?

By following a healthy lifestyle with regular exercise and healthy living the fat should not return in that area.

 

What is Aqualyx® used for?

How quickly will I see results?

A reduction in fat deposits can usually be seen after just one treatment, however between three and eight sessions are required to see the optimal effect. Who is the treatment suitable for?

It is suitable for patients who do not want the more invasive liposuction or laser lipo treatments, who do not have large amounts of fat to remove and who are over 18 years and under 60 years of age. The treatment is not suitable for pregnant or lactating women or those with a pathological condition.

 

Is the treatment suitable for overweight patients as a weight loss method?

No. Aqualyx® and Aqualysis are aimed at reducing stubborn pockets of fat.

 

What are the side effects?

Minimal side effects have been reported globally since its introduction. but patients can expect a little skin irritation. Swelling, bruising and edema, which will ease after a few days.

Aftercare

Side- effects and risks to be aware of:

People treated will typically experience minimal side effects when compared to more invasive procedures, such as liposuction.

Side effects include some redness, swelling. pain and tenderness in the treated area. Common temporary side effects during recovery are red. swollen and itchy, burning skin. Some people may experience some light bruising. but this and any other side effects will usually resolve within a few days.
